Central Square apartment undergoes lavish refurbishment

with unique Miss South Africa Vursa design collection

When Miss South Africa 2021 is crowned in October she will move into an apartment fit for the queen she is.

The new title holder will win a fabulous package of prizes worth more than R3 million, one of which includes the use of a fully furnished and serviced apartment at the luxurious Central Square in Sandton for the year of her reign.

Central Square Sandton offers modern lifestyle living where luxury, convenience, privacy and security meet in an aesthetically pleasing setting and where residents can experience the excitement of living and playing in Africa’s richest square mile.

Previous Miss South Africa winners who have called Central Square home are Zozibini Tunzi, who stayed in the apartment before she took the Miss Universe crown and relocated to New York; Sasha-Lee Olivier and reigning Miss South Africa, Shudufhadzo Musida.

In preparation for the new Miss South Africa, who will be crowned in October, the Sandton apartment has been fully refurbished and furnished by Vursa, the furniture and homeware lifestyle brand which is the brainchild of Craig Nerwich and Daniel Chemel.

Nerwich explains why they decided to become involved this year: “When the opportunity arose for us to become a partner with the Miss South Africa brand, we were instantly drawn to its iconic status in this country as well as its underlying philosophy. Miss South Africa is more than just a pageant that is focused solely on appearance. With the focus being so much more about empowerment, inclusion and upliftment, it was a perfect fit for Vursa as these are values we believe in ourselves.”

He continues: “When we created Vursa, we really wanted to make sure we could offer our customers more than just ‘another furniture and homeware’ offering. We have put a huge amount of emphasis into the quality of our products as well as the experience that our customers enjoy when shopping in our stores. We want our customers to feel like they are kings and queens. Their overall experience and the value they get from shopping with us is an absolute priority and of paramount importance.

“We wanted to create something really special for the new Miss South Africa, and so we designed a beautiful and exclusive collection to acknowledge our partnership with the Miss South Africa brand. What is really special for us is that it will be available to everyone in all of our stores as well as online. With our exclusive Miss South Africa Collection anyone can now feel like a queen (or king),” says Nerwich.

Miss South Africa 2021 will be crowned on Saturday, October 16, live from Grand Arena, GrandWest in Cape Town. The Top 10 competing for the crown (and the use of the Central Square apartment) are Bianca Bezuidenhout, Catherine Groenewald, Cheneil Hartzenberg, Jeanni Mulder, Kaylan Matthews, Kgothatso Dithebe, Lalela Mswane, Moratwe Masima, Tiffany Francis and Zimi Mabunzi.

Miss South Africa is presented by Weil Entertainment in association with M-Net, Mzansi Magic, Sun International and the City of Cape Town.
