The exquisitely striking Tatum Keshwar is a 25 year old Psychology graduate from the University of KwaZulu Natal. Prior to winning the Miss South Africa 2008 pageant and moving to Johannesburg for the year of her reign, she lived in Durban with her family.
While she won the coveted title of Miss South Africa 2008, it wasn’t the first time that Tatum had attempted to realise her childhood dream of taking the crown. In 2005, Tatum was a finalist in the competition and says that, "being a previous contender gave me the strength and courage to believe in myself and it gave me a second chance to prove my potential".
This is, however, not her first title. Tatum won the title Model of the Year in 2005 and was the winner of this year’s Durban Model of the Year Competition. Miss SA 2008 was also a contestant on the third season of the reality modelling competition, Revlon Supermodel.
The first thing that comes to mind when you meet Tatum Keshwar, is elegance. She is absolutely gorgeous and her Indian heritage gives her an exotic appeal, but it’s her vibrant personality that makes her truly beautiful. Miss South Africa’s height and physique is suited to the most gorgeous of outfits, but she could just as easily pull off wearing a black bag! Tatum feels that a person's style should reflect their personality and loves Coco Chanel’s fashion adage; "Less is more".
After being crowned Miss South Africa at the pageant at the Sun City Resort on 15 December 2008, Tatum Keshwar adapted to her new role like a seasoned celebrity. Tatum has handled the spotlight like a pro and despite her sophisticated looks and exotic beauty, her managers and our team at Sun International report that she is a delightfully grounded and warm hearted young woman – everything that an ambassador of South Africa should be.
Since winning the coveted Miss SA 2008 title, Tatum’s life has been a whirlwind of activity that takes her from charity work with Reach For A Dream and the Tapologo Aids Hospice to photo shoots and international pageants.
